We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Virtual Special Education Teacher to join our team for the Spring Semester. The successful candidate will support students in a remote learning environment and ensure they receive the appropriate services and accommodations.
Position Overview: As a Virtual Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for creating, delivering, and adapting educational programs to meet the needs of students with disabilities. You will collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to create an inclusive virtual learning experience for students. This position requires strong communication, technology skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
• Provide direct instruction to students via virtual platforms, using a variety of teaching methods.
• Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to parents and administrators.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and classroom activities to accommodate students with special needs.
• Attend and participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring meetings, and other team collaborations.
• Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws regarding special education services.
• Maintain a positive, supportive, and engaging virtual classroom environment.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles, cognitive abilities, and emotional needs.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure student success.

Qualifications:

• Valid Iowa teaching certification in Special Education (K-12) or equivalent.
• Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
• Strong knowledge of IEP development, modifications, and accommodations.
• Proficiency in virtual teaching platforms and technology tools.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• A passion for working with students and supporting their academic and emotional growth.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience teaching in a virtual or remote environment.
• Familiarity with assistive technology tools and resources for special education.
• Knowledge of Iowa’s state special education regulations and procedures.

Compensation: Competitive pay ranging from $28-$32/hour.
